The Need
Electric vehicles offer a cleaner alternative to traditional
gasoline-powered cars, helping to mitigate air pollution
and its associated health risks, while also contributing to
overall efforts to create more sustainable urban
environments.
the goal
Ensure 1,000 Los Angeles families can access EV Charge stations and 500 households switch to electric vehicles by 2027. To achieve this, the project will strategically identify suitable locations for charging stations to offer educational workshops, financial incentives, and partnerships with auto dealerships to facilitate EV adoption, continuously expanding its efforts while engaging with BIPOC communities.
Equitable Access
They are ensuring that electric vehicles and associated infrastructure are accessible to all residents, regardless of socioeconomic status, to promote inclusivity and address transportation equity issues.
Integration WIth Public TRANSIT
Integrate electric vehicles into existing public transit systems, such as buses and shuttles, to provide efficient, environmentally friendly transportation options that complement traditional modes of transit.
SMART MOBILITY SOLUTIONS
Implementing smart mobility solutions, such as ride-sharing and micro-mobility services (e.g. electric scooters, bikes), to enhance connectivity and reduce congestion in inner city areas while promoting sustainable transportation choices
The Stats
Communities with high concentrations of electric cars are affluent,college-educated, and at least 75% white and Asian. In contrast, electric cars are almost nonexistent in Black, Latino, and rural communities — revealing California's enormous task of electrifying the entire fleet.
About Us
Born and raised in Venice Beach, Michael Washington experienced the oil crises firsthand, witnessing long gasoline lines highlighting the vulnerabilities of fossil fuel dependence. This ignited his passion for sustainable solutions, leading him to establish EV Soul, a venture dedicated to transforming transportation.
Driven by a belief in environmental stewardship, Michael envisions a future where electric vehicles (EVs) mitigate climate change and enhance quality of life. As a proud EV owner, he leads by example, embodying the principles of sustainability he advocates.
Michael mentors youth aged 12-16 at his church and helps young people leave the system towards a better life. He plans to establish programs promoting safety and positive teachings. As an LA native, he deeply understands his community. Through his nonprofit, he assists with career development and helps the homeless. Michael has performed over 1,000 service calls, has owned an EV since 2022, and has been featured on the Spectrum 1 news.

“We will collaborate with LAUSD and City Colleges to provide youth with career exploration opportunities and pathways to sustainable employment. Through this initiative, participants will have access to educational resources and mentorship to explore careers in environmentally conscious industries. By partnering with academic institutions and leveraging community resources, the program seeks to empower youth with the skills and knowledge needed for meaningful careers in sustainability.” - Michael Washington
